bfeedingChoosing how to feed your baby is one of the most important decisions you will make as a new parent.

North Country Family Health Center’s WIC program supports moms in their choice to breastfeed.

We want to help you make breastfeeding easy and comfortable for you and your baby.

Our WIC clinics are breastfeeding-friendly and staffed with trained breastfeeding counselors and peer counselors (mothers who help other mothers) to answer questions and offer help and support. Our WIC Peer Counselors are available in to moms in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.
Peer Counselors are people who:

  • Have personal breastfeeding experience.
  • Have been carefully selected by WIC and trained in basic breastfeeding techniques and counseling skills
Give basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers
Want to help new mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals

Peer Counselors can:

  • Talk to you at the WIC Clinic.
Answer your questions by phone even in the middle of the night.
Give you advice and supplies to make breastfeeding easier.
